During a regular campus visit of Collective Prevention Services to Sint Maarten Montessori School, the student body presented a baby scale and measuring tool to the surprised registered nurses.
In a previous visit, the nurses had told students that Hurricane Irma destroyed many pieces of equipment at the baby clinic.
“At Sint Maarten Montessori School, we understand the importance of providing quality care for all, and we seized this opportunity to help our community,” explains Montessori principal Shelly Jack.
In May 2019, the Montessori school raffled an autographed copy of “The Steel Pan Man of Harlem,” by author-illustrator Colin Bootman, at their annual Fine Arts Night. The proceeds were earmarked to buy equipment for the baby clinic, and the Montessori school matched the proceeds to ensure timely purchase.
Montessori Primary and Lower & Upper Elementary students presented the new equipment in a meeting with CPS nurses on Wednesday, September 11, 2019.
